I've been kinda thinking of doing this. They sell the LED lights at truck stops and online. Im pretty sure then just wire them up to your headlight switch.

a kid up at school here bought air cleaner lights from a 379 pete at the truck stop. They came mounted on a chrome strip that was pre wired. he mounted 3 strips of the lights on each side of his truck. They looked really good and had awesome fit and finish out of the box. theyre all led, but are pretty pricy

i did it. i went to wal-mart and bought 5, 4 inch orange LEDs for each side. i just wired them all togeather and ran a wire to my marker light. it was really easy and took me only and hour and i spent 60 bucks on the lights

I did mine what i did i took 2 34 inch long 2 inch wide strips of diamondplate and bolted them to the lip underneath the cab bout 2 inches so they are protected from feet kicking them when people get in but they are still completly visible and I used 5 2 bulb orange amber lights since they were cheap lol ran one wire too each side spliced the 2 together at the fuse box and wired them in with my cab lights wire! works like a champ and looks sick at night!
