My Tail gate project
So as some of you know I aquired a 97 black tailgate from a friend. Well it was dinged and scratched up here is a before pic.
![]() ![]() After some pondering I decided I need to learn bodywork so here is my stab at it. Here it is blocked using 40 grit and 3m bondo ![]()

Afterwords I sanded everything smooth with 60 grit Then a coat of laquer primer

looks good so far, make sure you paint it inside thought, i painted a fender outside and there was little pieces of stuff all in the paint

So then I sanded the laquer primer with 220 grit and decided to go with a urathane primer I sprayed 4 coats then wet sanded with 400 grit then sprayed two more coats wet sanded again and with the tailgate wet this is my result

Looks good, are you going to put the aluminum trim on it? Or are you going to leave it white? Either way will look good

I am actualy ditching my diamond plate bed rails and tailgate trim for a ribbed Abs like the 99 and newer supderdutys
