Tranny Rebuild Questions
So after almost two years of living with double clutching to get third gear to go in I think its time to do an overhaul and I have a few questions. Plus a rear main seal leak I'm looking forward to fixing.
1997 f250 powerstroke with a zf s5-47 5 speed tranny.
Planning on pulling tranny and installing it myself to save on cost, but having a shop do the rebuild.
What sort of cost am I looking at for rebuild kit and about what should I expect a shop to charge for the rebuild? Is there any recommended rebuild kits? Is there any known problem areas I should look at upgrading or fixing while it is out? Thinking about getting a transmission jack, about how much does one of these trannies weigh? Does anybody recommend any tranny shops in the Cincinnati, Ohio area?
My first post here at the site and any help would be much appreciated.
