96 ZF5 5TH gear noisy

I was just wondering if anyone has had issues with their 5th gear . I have a bearing type noise cruising at speed. It quiets up on accel and decel, but while maintaining speed it is constant. I think it is getting worse but very gradually.

Most of my experiences with t/o bearings are not gear specific. I was just curious if anyone has had the same problem. Thanks.

is it possible that it is also present in 1-3rd gears, just can't hear it over the motor? if it is in 1,2,3,5 and not 4th then it may be the pocket bearing between the input and output shaft. I had that go bad once and the sound was like a light whirring sound. the thing is in 4th gear the input and output shafts are spinning together.

Just a thought.

Maybe the bearing in the 5th gear is going bad!

I am not shure, I never had one of these boxes apart. Thanks for the input. I'm not ready to pull it yet either, maybe spring. Any links to the brakedown of a ZF5?
