E40D getting hot

My transmission in my 95 Powerstroke is showing up to 240 degrees F after about an hour of driving at 70mph. I have blown out the coolers and no clogs. Also, the fluid smells just fine. The transmission was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago, but after I installed it, I think my dad put way to much fluid in it, could that be a potential reason for getting so hot? Any suggestions on fixing the problem would be appreciated.
Thanks

Could be, but you really need to ditch the factory cooler and go with Tru cool or a 6.0 31 row cooler.
