High mileage and worried about reliability

I've got a 97 2wd with 337.5k with what I believe is the original motor and trans and I'm thinking about selling it to one of my friends though he's worried about the original trans having that many miles. All he would be towing with it is a Jeep Cherokee that he's turing into a trail rig so should we be questioning this at all? Or should this have already had a rebuild done? The trans doesn't shift hard or anything and I've never had a problem since I've owned it over the last year

Automatic, can we presume? If so, and if it's on the original build, buy a lottery ticket. By those miles, an E4OD has usually been rebuilt at least once. Consider yourself as having saved a ton of money not having rebuilt it, and go ahead and do it (or have him do it).

'Course, the first thing you should do is carefully review the notion of selling a vehicle to a friend. Such transactions, through no fault of either party, can scorch a good friendship.

BTW, are you sure it's really only 337,500? The left-most digit doesn't go above 3, so at 399,999, the odometer rolls to 300,000. So if it had more than 299,999 when you bought it, it may have rolled once or more.

I'm pretty positive its 337.5. I bought it from a guy who bought from a student who used it as a commuter truck from Connecticut. I bought it 332.1k and I was told its all original. I know they're pretty hefty to rebuild as Thoroughbred Diesel offers BD Diesel rebuild kits for ~3800. I mean, is there anyway to tell if it needs it? I've had not one damn problem with it and I'm paying on an 07 Sierra 2500 so I don't have that kinda money or time really to throw down and he won't exactly either.
