Tranny/Speedometer

I am asking this for my neighbor with no internet. He has a 94 or a 95 F-250. It used to be an old ambulance that he turned into a flat bed. It has the E40D transmission. When he was driving it on a back road after he hit a bump the speedometer quit and it wouldnt shift at all. Just stayed in gear. So cruising down the road again after another bump the speedometer started working and the truck was running like a champ again. He said he looked at the harness going to the transmission and it looked fine. We both have no ideas as to where to start troubleshooting this one. Any help would be great.

Try looking on the rear axle. ON the top of the pumpkin of the axle is the ABS/ VSS( viehicle speed sensor) has 2 wires. The pig tale of the sensor could be broken or loose or bad connection. There like 5$ for a new pig tale and should solve the problem
