As in jammed, won't go into gear (or without grinding) or goes into position and nothing happens? Cheers!

It wont go into gears 1-4 or reverse. Either with truck running or Shut off. It only goes into overdrive. There is no grinding. It just wont go into any gear but od. Like something is not allowing it to do anything.

Does the shifter fail to move to the left? When you pull it out of fifth, does it actually go into neutral?

Does the truck move when it's in fifth and you have your foot on the clutch?

Yes it falls to go all the way to the left. It feels like its to far to the right. As for when taken out of 5th gear yes it goes into neauteal.

Something's going on with the shift forks, etc. at the top of the tranny. Lift up the boot, pull the shifter, then remove the top cover where the shifter enters the tranny, and start looking around. There might just be something out of place there.

Would it be better or easier To just drop the trans and inspect it out of vehicle? I pulled that cover off on top and looked down inside and didnt see anything really messed up. Pulled the side cover on ds earlier to inspect bottom gears anf didnt see anything out of place. Took magnet to the fluid and didnt see any sign of mtal shavings. But i dont know hardly anything as far as what to look for on the inside. Its my first zf trans
