E4OD TC issues I think?

Ok guys,

I recently bought a 97 F250 CC 4x4 with E4OD. Well, about 2 months ago. I drove it home 5 hours form Savannah and had no issues. Drove it around for another few weeks with no issues. Then one day after driving to Orlando and back, about 20 miles from home I got off the interstate and drove a few miles and while locked in OD, it downshifted out of nowhere to 3rd. It kept going back and forth every few miles. Then I slowed down to turn and TC was locking in 2nd and 3rd and OD but it was shifting at like 1100 rpms and truck had no ***. Took it home and put a bulb in 3rd brake light and it seemed to have fixed the problem for a week or 2. Then one day while engine was warm I took off from a light and shifted fine, but would not go into OD. Eventually it did, and shifted fine the rest of the day. Since then I have been leary to drive it, but have taken it on short trips.

Truck has always shifted good and strong and transmission has 30k miles on it according to PO, tranny has a Jasper sticker on it, and appears to be newer unit to the truck. Only thing I have noticed consistent, is that when I put it in Reverse or 1 the first start of the day the TC locks and bogs truck down and sometimes kills it. I have researched that, and understand it is probably a fluid issue. I have my filter and gasket, just waiting to find the time. My real concern is the weird shifting that happened. I have searched all over this forum and the internet with nobody having symptoms even close. I have put about 2500 miles on truck, and it has only happened twice. Just looking for input of anyone with a like story to advise what their course of action was.

Again, the transmission shifts fine and you would not think it has an issue except for the 2 occurences that are making me leary.

Well if anyone cares, did fluid and filter today....filter fell out with pan. So it was loose. That should fix my TC locking in reverse as it will no longer be sucking air. For now I am just going to drive it and see if other issues replicate again.
