95 e4od headache

95 4x4 269k miles doesn't leak fluid is good. Never changed the trans filter though. Anywho i start the truck let it warm up and when i shift it wont engage unless i give it some gas. Another thing is i live on a hill and when i **** from reverse to drive i have to keep my foot on the brake and accelerate or the truck will roll. When i come to a stop light the truck jerks forward or hops and drops idle like the tq converter is locking and unlocking. Most of this goes away after 30 miles of drivin. ...but it does sometimes do the not eengaging thing and roll on me when its warm to. Trans doesn't seem to slip when im driving, if. Wot its pretty good about giving me the power if the od is off but when its on it shifts early. Any ideas

Well ive known my icp is bad so i figured id unplug it and see if it did anything. ....holy night and day shifting wise. Engaged right away and i didn't have to hit the accelerator to move...it moved on its own. Does this sound like the problem? Bad icp

Without any more detail of preventive maintenance (or lack thereof), I would suggest that you do the complete drain (including the torque converter), REPLACE THE FILTER, add a magnefine filter to the return line coming from the radiator/cooler, and add a drain plug to the transmission pan while you're at it. Then see if the transmission works like it's supposed to, or not.

I hope you are keeping up with other PM items.

Im sure my problem is my icp bbecause its unplugged and is shifting amazing
