97 F350 with E4OD

Looking to buy a 97 F350 but the owner says it has to be started in natural to get the trans to work? Any ideas?

"Truck must be started in neutral to shift properly into other gears - needs some repair on the shifter."

Its the transmission range sensor on the driver side of the transmission, the shifter linkage goes through it. Its either shot, or just needs aligned slightly. It tells the PCM what gear the truck is in. Very simple/easy fix, and isn't that expensive at all.

Got some more info, transmission works fine, the problem is the safety mechanism that tells the shifter your foot is on the brake? Also the brake lights do not work because the fuse is blow and keeps on blowing. Is the fuse the fix to the shift problem?

Sounds like a faulty brake light switch?
