E40d Upgrades?

Im looking at buying a 1997 f350 2wd dually with 142k miles. It has an auto and i was wondering how much you can do to the 7.3 before worrying about the tranny? Also, what are some easy ,ods to make it more reliable.

Keep up the maintenance on it, run a bigger cooler (6.0L factory cooler or something like a TruCool Max) and switch to 3/8" lines . If you plan on doing some performance mods to up your power, you may want to do a modified valve body (from someone like BTS or John Wood) or a TransGo Tugger kit, and a better Torque Converter. Cheers!

From what I have witnessed and heard not much over 300hp before they start going, just had mine done at 150000 all I have is a tuner and coldair intake, but I have a 99 stock and pull 10000 plus pounds on average once a week, for work and it has 220000 and have never even changed the fluid, and she still pulls like a horse.
