Cool 97 7.3 zf5 dies under 1st gear start

Ok this just started last night. When I try to take off in 1st gear the engine dies. It starts right back up but I have to give it hell in 1st to get it moving. It's kinda like a torque converter problem on an auto but it will go in 2nd. Any Ideas what could be wrong?

Does the clutch seem to be engaging lower in the pedal travel than before?

Im confused? it takes a lot of power to get moving in first? Its actually easier to take of in second gear? whattt? My truck wouldn't stop for the world in 1st gear, even at idle, 4x4 fully locked.

Havent really noticed any change in pedal feel. But it does feel like you just dumped the clutch without moving and the truck dies. Kinda like trying to drive from stop in fourth gear it just dies.

...what he said.

It takes off in second gear no problem but stalls in first?

yes. Only dies in first after stop. Idles fine, just acts like i'm taking off in 3rd and stalls. (I'm in 1st though I promise! Checked multiple times.)

I found out what the problem was. After finding the time to look back at my previous work I realized the nut on the back of the ipr had fallen out. So when I would try to take off in first the solenoid would slip back stalling it. Any way its tightened back up right now. Thanks for trying to help me figure this out. This is by far the best way for guys like me to drive the truck of my dreams and fix it my self!
