95 OBS PS automatic shifting weird

Ok so Im new to these trucks and mine seems that when you let off the gas and you are coasting down the road that after it gets to a certain MPH it starts to feel like its downshifting or the convertor is locking and unlocking. The Tach jumps around when it does this like from 700rpm up to 1000 after it shifts or whatever its doing. It almost feels like the truck is applying the brakes on its own.

Also if I smash the gas pedal and make the truck shift into passing gear when its shifts back out of passing gear its shifts really hard and bangs. it doesnt do that all the time tho.

Mine tries to shift down and will almost stop on its own if left untouched for a bit If I'm around 35 and I get back on it it'll "reengage" pretty harsh.

I would think its something to do with being able to pull some weight and it's a reaction to letting off the throttle. Just a guess.

Mine down shifts on its own but doesnt shift hard as you mentioned i believe these tranny are supposed to down shift like that all of the auto psds ive driven have done it to some degree
