How do you scan the pcm for tranny codes?

My e4od slips in low gears in drive, sometimes shifts hard into reverse, flashes the overdrive light sometimes. I was told to prepare to buy a new transmission by a few guys on the forum, but i simply dont have the money to right now. I'm 16 and just got the truck. I was also told to have my pcm scanned for transmission codes if the od light flashes along with the other symptoms i described to find exactly what the problem is. How/ where do I go to get it scanned? Any help is appreciated.

A independent repair shop, dealership, maybe post your location to see if there is a forum member near you that has a scanner. The scanners at most parts store are not capable of pulling all codes especially when it comes to transmissions.
