manual transmission 4th gear grinds?

Hey I just bought this truck and here’s my problem A 97f-350 ..gears.. 1 seems to be a gear that’s just for pulling out of something 2 is what I start in gets me to 20mph or so then I’m into 3 I normally ride it until 30-35 and then comes my issue I put the clutch in and pull down into 4th. It grinds.. The only way I can keep it from grinding is by letting it sit in neutral for a second or so and then when it feel like it wants to pop in I pull it all the way down. What is this? You all know best thanks. My cluth seems alittle funny. getting into 3from to and 2from 3 is very easy as in i hardly press the clutch . thanks for the help

sounds like you have a syncronizer in the trans starting to go.....its not an easy repair, the trans has to be disassembed to replace them and i wouldnt just put one syncro in if you were already there, id have them do all of them....
