Have you ever
95 ford e350 7.3 turbo with the crappy e40d tranny
the tranny will lock in the torque convertor almost as soon as it goes into second gear. then it wants to jump back and forth to lock and unlock before it settles in one or the other. Then the od light will start flashing. Then it will shift to drive and overdrive just normal. Once on the highway/interstate, the light will stop blinking and everything is perfect. Its just the around town driving that it does stupid crap. Sometimes it will even lock in the convertor in first gear and it bogs the crap out of the motor. I have replaced the vss, cleaned and made sure everything was good on the pigtail across the tranny to the shift solenoid. Tranny fluid is perfectly at a good level.
What im thinking of doing, is (this is where you come into play), is finding out which wire in the pigtail controls the locking/unlocking of the torque convertor, and cutting it, splicing in a toggle switch, that way i can lock and unlock the convertor as I want to. Have anyone ever done this and do you suggest trying it?
If not, then where should i look next as far as fixing this ignorant problem im having
thanks
