96 f250 wont go into D?

Hello all,

What can be causing this? It drive in R but not D.

thank you kindly in advance.....

----96 f250
----256,000 miles
----Purchased last July of 2011 w/ 253,000 miles
----Installed Pheonix chip 6-P
----Installed Exhaust.
----Installed intake and filter mod
----Installed Edge evolution to monitor vitals, all was normal.
----4 weeks ago the OD light was flashing w/ hard shifting in 1 & 2 but went away w/ PCM reset. The OD flashing happened several times that week.
----Last week, the tranny was flushed and new fluid /filter/pan was installed.
----Thursday, the truck will not go into D.
----The truck shifts perfect w/ no grinding, noise or slippage since the purchase. No indication of tranny issue, shifts nice.

yes......

Yes, the truck will only go in "reverse." When in "D or 2 or 1" it would act like its in neutral.

sounds like you might need a rebuild, have you done anything to it besides the flush? could be a few different things. from shift solenoids to bands. I'd call and see if you can get opinion from a transmission shop.

Took it to the tranny shop and they said the tranny was finish. I spoke w/ the previous owner and he said the tranny was rebuilt about 40k miles ago. The previous owner is a good client of mine and i have been doing business w/ him and his wife, sister in law, brother in law, wife's daughters, and grand kids for almost 15years. The tranny shop also has a great reputation. How can it fail w/ suck low mileage?
