changing shift solenoid?

so my TC has been acting pretty weird lately and a friend said that its most likely the shift solenoid.

What its doin is 75% of the time the tc locks/unlocks 1 or 2 times before shifting from 1st to 2nd. 2nd to 3rd it doesent happen too much . 3rd to OD it never happens. however if i have my foot to the floor and in od at about 70 it will lock and unlock 1 or 2 times. so is my tc just shot or is it the shift solenoid in the trans?
