E40D what to do!!!???!

ok guys i needed some serious help and direction. my trans. is pretty much done. as far as i know it was the original trans to the truck the truck is a 97 f250 hd crew cab with 282,xxx miles on it. the trans is acting up shifting hard and the od light is flashing, when the truck is scanned it get a P1728 code, transmission slip error converter clutch fault. the front converted/pump seal also looks to be leaking. so the trans has to come out of the truck. i might as well do a rebuild or replace.

my feeling is if i am going to replace is why not put something a bit better in well doing it. i was thinking of going with an ats stage 2 trans. i have heard good and bad about ats. what do you guys think, can you recommend any other trans? i tow my camper with the truck as well as a trailer with a car on it from time to time. i want something that is going to be strong and last.

forgot to add the truck has no power adders right now, jsut a good set of gauges, and a diy intake.
