Trans seems confused

Hey guys, I just picked up a 96 ps auto 4x4 and I noticed the trans seems to get a little confused when down shifting and the upshifts aren't as tight as I would expect, although it shifts fine under normal driving with lower load/rpm. I checked the trans fluid it is full red and doesn't smell burnt, also the 4x4 lever doesn't jump up much under load so I think the trans mount is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, Dean.

Hmm....

Your description is a little vague. If there is a problem there may be soft codes that are stored.

Do you have access to a scanner that can read our trucks?

Well one thing that threw me off was the fact that it upshifts when I want it to downshift at about 35-40 mph. It also seems to be a 4 speed plus od. Besides that the shifts just aren't as tight as they should be.

I had heard that these trucks need a specific scanner but I don't know where to get one or what type. Any info would be appreciated.

1-2 is good 2-3 is late 3-4 is early right when the tirbo hits it shifts 4-od is a little rough and maybe a little early.

I want a tuner and a valve body, which?

The last shift (what you called 4-od) is your Torque Converter engaging. I'm afraid I'm no help on the other stuff though
