e4od 2-3 shift free revs

is it going to blow out ?recently purchaced this truck
trany looks like it was rebuilt painted gray
and torque converter also looks replaced it was painted blue.
96 powerstroke 2-3 shift sometimes free revs as it shifts have to let off gas to catch 3rd gear .obs light was flashing but went out
no codes found on ae scanner. so far replaced vss and selector switch fluid smelled burnt ,pulled pan it looked clean foundsome debris on magnets . drained and refilled fresh mercn fluid checked line Pressure at idle

rev and manual low is boosted pressure. that's normal

what else can cause this 2-3 shift to flair up ,free reving . have to let off gas to shift ?

There should not be a flare up on the 2-3 shift, there is nothing that releases before 3rd comes on. If the 3rd clutch does no apply, it should just feel like it stays in 2nd. You have to have a scanner on it to see if the computer is commanding the shift or not.

i had ae scanner on it no codes.
it is intermittent problem driving today shifts fine, took to tranny shop a week ago after fluid and filter change and they could not find anything either ,drove home from tranny shop that night and it did it to me again . tranny shifts smooth normal .

sounds like it could be the solenoid pack mine just did some wild crap to and it was doing some of the same crap reving sticking in 2nd and then would shift in and out of 3rd and all kinds of weird crap and it was a intermitent problem i just ordered a new trans going to put it in this week
