torque converter help codes please!!!

Hey guys got a 1996 ford powerstroke f350 auto tranny i have a ts 6 postion chip drive with 75 hp tune daily.. When i got the truck the od light was blinking and it banks going into second gear. overdrive works fine.. that problem has been going on for some time now.. had the codes checked and the tranny shop gave me P708 neutral safety switch, P1748 epc fault ( not sure what this one is ) and lastly P1728 tcc slip.. Now starting 2 days ago i have to manual shift the tranny down coming to a stop.. if i dont when i go to take off it stays in high gear. Had the codes checked again today he didnt give me a code number all he said was it came back as a torque converter error code.. told me the disk are wearing out..
Now for you guys to help me out an answer if i go ahead and tear this thing apart and put a torque converter in it ( heavy duty) will it solve the problem? Or will i have other tranny issues..

Please respond with any info that would help me and please tell me what torque converters i should look into links would be greatly appreciated.
Not looking to spend a killing but i want a nice hd converter..

You don't want a big converter in a stock trans..will usualy kill it..they also need front pump mods.
