What years of Transmission

Hello every one in Ford land, I have a 1996 F250 Powerstroke with an E40D Transmission and it has decided to not work I am NOT willing to keep the Transmission and am going to put in a standard, what I need to know is what years of truck can I swap out part I need? Thank you for your time.

any zf 5 speed truck will work if it a diesel engine for a donor , there are quite a few years even in gas trucks that the pedals and inside stuff are the same

Could a ZF-6 bolt up to an OBS? Wanted to do that to my '94 before I sold it.

yes it will bolt up, be more to make it work on the hydraulics end of it but yes it will

Well it is all done I swapped out my E40D for a ZF 5spd, there was little bit of work but in three days itr was all done. The biggest thing was to get a Diesel ( a1996 powerstroke). this saved a lot of time and money as all the parts where in the truck, I looked at a 1994 and that is the year of change over, so I found a 1996 F250 4X4 and the rest is history. All the hole where there, wiring etc,. If any one else does this you need the ECU, and IDM, my old ECU I am going to Ford and get it re programed. Thank you all for your info.

i know this is old but i have some questions of my own...I found a zf5 trans that came off a 88 460...guessing that wont work?
