engine will not start

I have a 1996 f-350 with 90k miles on the clock. I just bought the truck. The engine will crank and smoke but will not start unless it is plugged in. We have replace gp relay with oem unit. The wait to start light stays on for 7 to 8 seconds when not plugged in and under 2 seconds when plugged in

Glowplugs might be bad, but I definitely don't know for sure, just a guess of what it sounds like could do it

How long are you waiting after the key is turned to WTS before cranking. The glowplugs will be active for about 1.5 minutes (the WTS light has nothing to do with how long the plugs are active ... its just a sort-of reminder). Check the GPs as well. Cheers!

Mine didn't like to starting until I did the GP's but a new starter helped the most.
