95 IPR replacement

Well after several days of tracing down problems I finally figured out that my IPR was going bad and decided to tackle this PITA task. I went to Ford and purchased a new IPR, well they only carried 1 part number for the valve assembly. Well, when I get home and look at it, I realize that it doesn't have the little plate at the end of it that the 95 models do. What I'm wondering is do I HAVE to have the one with this plate? Or is there a way to remove it from the old IPR and put it on the new one?

Ok, so I just realized that the difference is the edge filter. So what I guess I need to know is whether or not it has to have the edge filter? Or if its better to not have it seeing as how ford took it off for the 96 and newer 7.3s. Need help ASAP please, its my daily and I need to get this up and running today.

It should have the edge filter (if that's what your had on it originally). They moved the edge filter to be integral with the pump on later engines). Cheers!

Do you know if I can simply remove the edge filter from the old valve and put it on the new one?
