No start issue

Hey everyone, I got a 97 f250 crew short box 7.3 real cheap ($800). The last owner said he was driving down the highway and the truck just shut off and wouldn't start up again. I bought it thinking might be simple fix but its got me scratching my head.

Here's what I've found out;
turns over good,
no smoke out tailpipe,
took valve cover off and injectors not passing oil.
WTs light comes on,
check engine light comes on for a flash when first turn key to on position.
There is power at obd2 port (couldn't pull coded with obd2 reader - I know don't work need good one
No tach movement when turning over
NO oil pressure on dash gauge when turning over
The ipr valve has 12 volts when hook tester up to connector (or should I be testing each side off a ground?)

Replaced:
PCM
IDM tried 2 different ones
Cam position sensor 2 times
Fuel filter
All fuses are good never blow
Fuel in tanks

Was told by last owner there was no signal at cps

Any ideas what to check or how to test without a good scanner.

Unplug your fuel bowl heater then check all your fuses. If OK. Then unplug your ICP sensor and try to start. If still nothing your going yo have to get a good diagnostic scanner that can do a buzz test and CCT.

Fuel bowl heater unplugged. Icp unplugged, ebps unplugged ( heated debate weather will do anything- I say it's useless sensor) still no start.

Can anyone explain simply how to test connectors going into valve cover gasket, I don't think injectors getting signal to fire.

EBPS is a useful sensor very much so. EBPV is useless IMO.

Do you have access to a diagnostic tool like AutoEnginuity? You need to do a buzz test. You can ohm out each injector, but since you said none are pumping oil out the spill port. your issue is upstream from the sticks and glow plugs. Is your IDM getting power?

I can get snap on tester end of next week. I only tested power to PCM not IDM. I will google what the pins are in the IDM connector n Check tonight and report back.

But what about the no oil pressure on the dash gauge while cranking- I know get AE or snap on b quick answer but can't for a week

With all your fuses good and even though you changed the cps twice, it has me believing you have a short on your cps wire going back to your pcm.

Reason I think so is typically IDM power can be shorted out by your fuel bowl heater,(its on the same fuse) but you unplugged it. So with fuses good and no movement on tach and two cps's is why I think its shorted.

Only reason for trying 2 cps was to cancel the theory of one being junk out of the box (from international so should be good). I just got in from the road driving highway truck all week and can play around with it all weekend. I'm gonna start with wiring harness and power to IDM.

There's no power threw cps wires to sensor. And the ipr sensor shows 12v with key on not cranking.

Hey Hucorey.. Scratch ur head on this... The horn doesn't work via the steering wheel but does when you supply power direct to horn.

This makes me think wiring in ignition?

IDM has power going to it.
PCM has power.

No signals from engine - cps/tach movement- no oil pressure dash gauge, but the volt meter works when key is on
