96, 250, mostly stock motor. +300,000 miles. This is a mud truck not a daily driver, the motor sits about 7 ft in the air.

It was running a little rough at the last event we brought it to, when we got it home we were pressure washing it while it was running ( I know not a great idea) and it died like the key was shut off. Now it will not crank , spins over fine ( new starter and batts), it will crank on starting fluid (very bad, i know) and run for about a minute.

Changed the fuel pumps, lift pump is new 100hrs maybe, traced all fuel lines they looked good.

Got a Brand spankin new HPOP, no change

New IPC, no change

New CPM, no change

Have a working IDM and will try it this afternoon

Have not replaced IPR yet

Truck does not show any engine codes and my pos OBDII reader will not show live feedback because truck won't run long enough for it to load.

I have read that water can get in the IDM it will fry, this is very possible considering what the truck is used for and how it gets cleaned.

This truck is a true testament to the 7.3 it gets rode hard and put up wet often and has never before failed to start. Only changed ever the lift pump at 300,000 miles to stop the leak, before we started throwing parts at this problem.

i do not have a decent scan tool, and getting it to a shop is a negative at this point.

It was the IDM!!!

found an IDM out of a 01 F350 and it runs like a champ.

Fired up in 2 seconds with no aerosol assistance++

Thanks for reading even though i didnt give anyone enough time to answer ( i got around to it much faster than expected)

Hope this can help someone.

I would not recommend going out and buying an IDM on a whim because they are rather expensive, we lucked out in a weird way that that was the problem with so many variables that can cause a no start.
However, if you have a trusting buddy with the same IDM you can remove theirs and plug it into your truck without removing yours to see if it is the culprit.
