Exclamation Rough Idle and Hard Shake any idea please

I have a 1997 PSD and just recently it was idling real bad and shaking whole truck hard and it was only when first started and only lasted around 1-2 mins and throws a check engine code but only when its running bad goes away when smooths out was doing it for about 3 days Truck has virtually no power also during this. well today it did it upon start up and went away as normal and I got to driving around and seen some buddies..me being a jack.. and with some egging from them I took off hard from a stoplight pulled great as normal for about 70-80 feet then it started doing the rough idle and shaking so I pulled over and shut truck off and restarted it was gone... for about a quarter mile then returned, now it does it nonstop. I was just wondering ideas before I started wasting money by guessing.. I wanna say glow plugs but im not a diesel mechanic. any help is greatly appreciated, hate when my trucks down. thank you

A lot of times a lean code comes from an injector not operating properly. This can come from lot's of things such as the aforementioned UVCH. First place I'd look.

I have had that same symptom. It was fuel filter change time.

check the u.v.c.h electric connector on that side of motor, look for burn marks or anything discolored,it is the harness heading into valvecover, also i have put 1 oz of 2 stroke oil in with every gal. of fuel,im loving it,the old gal seems to just purr now,it just helps to lube the injectors, quiets em up a bit too
