Another crank/no start

Bought a 96 F350 in hopes that it would be a simple fix to get er' running again... and realized im an idiot. This has been the most UN-simple thing and im lost as to what exactly could be wrong here.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but whats the diagnostic list for a no start?

What I have done so far- ohm'ed out the injectors- found #6 at 3.5 ohms, all others at 2.9, so already suspecting bad injector.

Not getting any power from IDM. No idea if the PCM supplies power to IDM, but IDM isn't sending out jack, key on, relay good. No idea whats up there. Maybe im checking it wrong?

Again, im just trying to get it running. I have NOT yet shot it with ether to see if it will start/stay running, and will do that this week.

Ideas? Test procedures?

well, found some interesting pieces to the puzzle.

The owner said it ran fine when he parked it, and he didn't touch it or start it for 4 years. He went out there to the farm, charged up the batteries and couldn't get it to start.

I just tried the age old gasoline on a rag trick, and it will act like it wants to run, but will NOT continue running.

Also, I have put in new fuel and filter incase anyone starts saying that.

Also, when I crank it, I have rpm's, check engine light, but no glow plug indicator or warning. hot or cold, I have no glow plug light.

edit: just found out the IDM isn't getting power. Checked and tested relay, power is getting to relay but not grounding. Checked schematic and it says the relay grounds through pin 70 going to the PCM. So im guessing the PCM grounds the relay for the IDM to allow it to power up? Either way the IDM isn't powering up.

Sorry you feel that way. Speaking just for myself, I haven't been on the board for a few days but would have told you the following had I seen this before:

1) Your question of "whats the diagnostic list for a no start?" would be answered with "Try to the search function for 7.3 No start and begin there.
2) You say the IDM was not powering up. Would have suggested you try another if possible, would have asked to you to have the PCM tested.
3) Would have also told you ether and glow plugs is a really bad idea.
4) Would have told you to test your glow plugs and relay because you said you did not have a wait to start light.

In any case, glad you got the truck running.
