glow plugs
I put a set of autolite glow plugs in my truck around the beginning of January. By the end of January, they didn't work again so i pulled them out. 7 of the 8 was bad. I replaced the 7 bad ones. Now those 7 are bad again. Did i just get a bad batch of glow plugs or is there something else i need to check.

Yes, you got a bad batch of glow plugs. To detect bad glow plugs, carefully inspect the box/package in which they came. If the word "Autolite" appears, the glow plugs are bad.
It was actually fortunate that they failed when they did. Autolite glow plugs that actually work out of the box are known to swell up in service, becoming difficult/impossible to remove. Sometimes it requires removal of the cylinder head. Use ONLY Motorcraft/Beru #ZD-11 glow plugs. |
