Loud noise

My 97 powerstroke makes a loud nose through the exhaust like air is bring forced out really fast when the truck is colder then it comes out of it at high rpms is this normal? What is the reason for this? I love in nd so it gets pretty cold here and when my truck is at normal temp 180 or so eot it does not do this but around 110 it will

How loud are you talking? Loud like air out of a compressor line? How about an exhaust leak at a gasket that expands and seals itself up when it's warm?

Re: Loud noise

I thought it was ebpv also but the obs does not idle up like the new style does the valve shut to warm the block and cause the excess air flow it does come from the exhaust tip so I do not think its leaking

Does it sound like a 747 coming in for a landing when your inside the plane? This sounds like the ebpv is closed

When does the ebpv usually quit closing?

When the truck gets up to temp. I hated it when I had my 97. So I gutted it. Took a little longer to warm up, but the noise was gone!
