Strange oil leak, anyone else?

So, I have removed the engine and in the process of checking for problems. Truck has 160K miles. The vibration damper looks suspect so I am going to replace it. So as I remove the bolt holding the damper to the crank engine oil starts coming out. I noticed a small dab of rtv or similar on the keyway. It doesn't appear the it was going past the front seal. Has anyone else experienced this? Very weird.
