Front Fuel Tank Issue

So I have a 95 4wd 5spd. My issue is that when running on the front tank it tries to stall out or does if I dont switch tanks quick enough. Its only when running highway, anything over 50-60 mph cruising. If I'm in town I can run all day on the tank with no issues. Rear tank has no problems. I was thinking a clog but I don't understand why it wouldn't do it in town and just on the highway.

Any ideas? I'm new to the diesel stuff, so I'm looking for some input

i am guessing that the plastic screen piece on the pickup tube probably broke and has a piece of plastic partially blocking it. at lower rpms the pump isn't trying to pull as much fuel through it
