motor runs rough
Hello everyone, hope you day is better than mine
I have a 1995 e350 7.3 psd that runs rough, found a leak on the low pressure side of the 2 stage mech. Fuel pump and replaced it with the airdog 165 system, removing the stock fuel pump and filter/water separator. Still runs rough at idle and now have cel/mil light on only when the motors is running So I purchased the AE with enhanced ford scanner and came up with these codes DTC P0603 internal control module keep alive memory {KAM} ERROR KOEO test came up with 3 codes P0282 cylinder 8 injector circuit low P1277 cylinder 7 high to low side open P1275 cylinder 5 high to low side open Would appreciate any recommended next steps and procedures for repair Thanks to all for any input to my dilemma the van is in good shape and had run very well up to this point 165,000 miles on it |

Clear all the codes and drive the van again. What codes came back? I don't know the vans layout but locate the Injector Driver Module and disconnect the harness from it. Check both the connector on the harness and IDM to see if there is any water damage.

thanks BigFuel for the advice, since those particular codes and clearing them I get a different set of codes and some times a system pass so far these are all the codes that I have written down P0282, P0603 {KAM}, P0196 EOT, P0272, P0266, and P0476 exhaust pressure control range.
I am thinnking my PCM or IDM module has and internal glitch unless it is my AE scanner, with my situation is is too costly and time cosumming to replace everything that comes up at different times of testing on the AE tests, I would greatly appreciate some sound advice on how to pin point the real problem or the common problm to these codes thanks |

If the thing is running I am incliened to look beyond the PCM and IDM. My first and highest thought on your situation is that you have a wiring harness shorting to ground. Diesel fuel is highly corrosive to vinyl and guess what your wires in the wiring harness are shieled with? Vinyl jacketing. The most common place for the harness to go out is right in the fuel bowl and pump area. Opening the shielding plastic and looking into the guts of the harness _might_ show you several bare wires crossing each other.
Also, (and this is an easier first step) the valve covers have four harness connectors (two each). Pull each one and look inside both the connectors and the valve cover receptical to see if the pins inside are still bright and shiny. It should also be dry with no oil blow-by in the connector. |
