Engine misses at high rpm

Quick questions guys, my 7.3 5 speed, when you put it in 1st and floor it from a stand still, when it starts to yellow line in high Rpm's the motor "pops" or misses. Or if your in neutral and floor the throttle the 3000rpm it pops as well. Engine acts like its starving for fuel or can't keep up. Anyone have any ideas what's causing this.
