97 7.3 whooshing sound at high rpm
I'm in the process of doing a downpipe and 6637 mod to my 97. But the way it sits right now, at high to mid range rpm it sounds like a shop fan in my driver side fender... the Turbo is a whole different sound which I thought it might be just spool or back pressure, but with the window up you can't hear it. What is causeing this? As the truck sits right now, its bone stock.

Well my other 97 has a wicked exhaust leak and its more of a ticking, not a solid whoosh. Imma crawl under the truck tomorrow after I get my downpipe to try and see if I can see any black soot under the body or on the block. Could it be my intake? Like clogging up or not getting enough air? Cause ill ne doing the 6637 mod this weekend as well.

Exhaust back pressure valve. If you're modding the truck, you can either wire it open or gut it out. Many threads here and on the other PSD sites on this topic; search on "back pressure" or "EBPV".
