Angry 7.3 HELP NEEDED

I am having a issue with my 97 7.3 when I start it it runs pretty good but as soon as the glow plugs cycle off it starts missing and popping and blowing gray smoke,if I shut it off and restart it as soon as the glow plugs cycle off it does it again and again, I changed the oil and filter as well as the fuel filter and am leaning towards the cam position sensor but not sure any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well since I've been dealing with a broken foot I'm a little slow at getting my truck fixed I swapped out the cam sensor and still have the same problem, now I'm getting a code for # 8 injector short on low side so I guess its time to check wiring and injector
