what is this sensor

I was tracing wires trying to figure out if i had a bad wire to my cps. I know there is a temp sensor up by the themastat housing but this one is down lower. I didnt know it was ther It above the cps on the pasenger side front of engine. is it for temp also?cant really get a good look at it i just stuck my phone in there and snaped a pic.

Yup. The diesels have two sensors. One's a variable resistor for the gauge. The other is a switch that lights up a light over on that extra panel on the right, the one that has the WTS, WIF, etc. lights. The gassers don't have that.

Neither one inputs to the PCM, so no effect on engine op.

ok thanks figured it might temp sensor but never seen anything on it. Now if i can just get the other issues with this truck figured out.
