Slow to power up. and temp gauge
1997 f350 7.3L 5 speed manual. 339k..motor has new fuel pump and oil pump, and head gasket. Just change the glow plugs this morning. It starts and runs amazing still even at 339k miles. But it takes about 3 miles for it to run good. when i start it in the morning and drive it , it takes 3 miles to "warm up" meaning untill i go those 3 miles i have no power what so ever. can barely make it up the hill by the house. I cant go over 30 mph no matter what gear im in.after the 3 miles it runs like a champ. is this normal? Also my temp gauge quit working any help with that would be apprecatiated thanks

It kinda sounds like your ebpv is sticking. BUT, typically diesels take a minute to warm up. If I start my truck and without driving around I try to brake press, it won't do it. After I drive a few miles, my truck will smoke my 35" mud tires.

I'd lean towards EBPV. Let it warm up for a few minutes and then try turning it off and turning it back on and take it for a drive. See if it does it then. Whenever its cold and my EBPV is on I let it warm up for a few minutes then restart the truck and it doesnt activate.
