runs on 4. new uvc, new idm, no luck.

about a mont ago i was driving on the freeway and lost most of my power. cel came on. limped to a gas station and topped of diesel cause it was a bit low and feared the gauge was not reading right. then changed fuel filter which was filthy. ran rough again for about two miles and cleared up.
last weekend drove to vegas and around vegas (600-700 miles)then on the way back from vegas lost power again. limped to auto parts and bought/changed diesel and air filters and topped off diesel with injector cleaner additive.
drove last 250 miles home on 4 cylnders. 55 mph on the flat 35 mph uphill.
borrowed a code reader and got p1613. starts with a small shot of ether and a finesse of the throttle. changed the uvc on the cold side (passenger). got a referb idm and installed this evening. cleaned the little screen (cant think of its name right now). still not running on all 8.
my next planned step is pull all the tape off the harness and look for melted/shorted wires. read something about hpop oil level. dont know where it is. could it affect only one side?

It shouldn't be the HPOP level (if it's running at all, you're OK there). Check the passenger side external connections and VC gasket too. If you have an Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM), it would make checking the wires from the VC connections to the IDM connector easier. I would also take ohm readings from the VC gasket from the center pin to the adjacent pins on each VC connection to get the injector solenoid values. Cheers!
