Need Help
I have a 1997 7.3 ran perfect I parked it for a week went to start it it ran really rough and never cleared up. Now runs really bad and only for a few seconds. I can keep it running a little with my foot to the floor. I checked all fuses 3 times, changed fuel filter and checked mechanical fuel pump all good. Changed the PCM and tested fuel pressure 50 psi. Glow plug controller gets super hot could it be the glow plugs or the controller even though it starts?

Did you check/change the CPS?
|

|
No It was changed about 2 years ago is there a way to test it?

Check the wiring for shorts, cracks, etc
What brand is it? If it was replaced 2yrs ago then try another one. Seems like it's hit or miss with a new CPS these days. |

It was changed by Ford on a recall. Im going to change it again this weekend thanks for the input.

If it doesn't turn out to be that then at least you have a spare laying around.
I would also check your UVCH and valve cover gaskets and their connections. Do you have access to a scanner? I apologize for not thinking of everything at once, been a long day. |

Don't want to sound dumb what's a UVCH? I do have a scanner but Im getting no codes. I was told that a lot of scanners wont work with 7.3.

Under Valve Cover Harness is what everyone refers to it as. Try to find a scanner that can do a buzz test.

Changed the cam sensor still was running really bad. Your advice on checking the under the valve cover gaskets paid off. On the passenger side the plug to the last injecyots was half melted off changed both wiring harnesses and runs like a top. Thanks for the great advice.
