97 7.3 hot start problems
Alright guys.. Here is the problem.. If i run my truck for say 30min or so or just enough to get the oil nice and warm.. And i shut it off and try to restart it it will not start.. It has to sit about 5 to 10 min to cool down to start....
I have a d66 and stage 1 rosewoods... New starter 2 yr ago and new batteries this month. The alternator was checked and passed test. When trying to restart it sounds like its draining all the batterys power.. It will crank over real slow or crank a couple times and stop when im still holding key down then restart cranking.. I dont know what to try... Sat morning i will be chaning the starter since it is warrentied and changing my oil.. Any ideas or info would be great. Thanks Joe |

Many times a no hot start problem can be due to bad IPR o-rings (hot oil will go past bad o-rings easier than cold thicker oil). It's at least an easy, cheap fitry at a fix. Another area might be a bad top injector o-ring(s) that would allow oil to leak between the base of the injector and the head (you would need to remove the valvecovers and run it to see if that could be a problem). Cheers!

Well the injectors have all new rings and havnt been in that long.. so they should be fine unless were flawed from start.. but it never had probs till just recently.. and i ordered a IPR replacement oring kit.. so ill try that.
Thank ya |

If it's cranking that much slower, that doesn't sound fuel-related. That sounds like a starter that's failing hot.
