Running cold?

i just got a 97 7.3, its been running a little cold, just below the n on normal, the weather hasnt been above freezing here too, do they run that cold in cold weather or could the thermostat be stuck?

nah these things are like that. Also keep in mind that the gauge is a glorified idiot light. They can read all over the place. so long as it moves at all you are good

I've got a grille cover in the winter, and I could also remove the fan, and it wont overheat when pulling 10k lbs for sure.
I need to bump the idle up when it's cold out, because the truck will cool down and I'll loose the heat in about 30 minutes when idling.
I think the cooling system is just over-efficient in cold climates.

Sounds just like my 97. Darn thing would take forever to get warm, even with a 203* stat, really never got HOT. And my temps were at N also, really never moved all that much.

Try a new tstat. Mine was like that until I swapped out for a new one. Now it will get to the"o" in normal. Good luck bud.
