coolalnt temp switch?

my coolant temp gauge works intermittatly, canged the swich and worked for a while but now doing it again. is this a common problem due to the connection, seems kinda chinsey, or do i have a wire problem somewhere. thouhgt bout cutting the end off and crimping an eye on it and putting a nut on it instead if the push on...... just wondering if anyone has ran into this problem B4
