turbo or other problem

ok ive read and read post after post several sites deep....i have a 97 7.3 stock minus cat...ive had the truck 3 months and the truck would always spit sputter hessitate from 1800-2200 then boost.... i did the ebpv mod today and finally got black smoke...big problem...no more boost cant get rpms above 2600 lots o black smoke...please help as i have posted many times on various other diesel sites with no help or answer

Welcome! Does your turbo shaft even spin at all? I'm just trying to get a better idea of whats happening here. Sounds like you're getting alot more fuel than air in there so that can't be good.

Finally got black smoke? Getting black smoke with stock injectors isn't a good thing. Plus black smoke is what people want to look cool, not necessarily the best thing for performance.

yes it does spin checked it today and no shaft play at all...noticed a drop in milage also

tell us about the ebpv mod. did you just unhook it or remove it completely. sounds to me like the ebpv is in the closed position

after looking around at the mod (wired open) i decided to change the cps...much better but now i get an engine light now and agin
