96 7.3 fuel problem please help!

My truck started up and drove about 1 mile then cut off . Went to crank it and it tried to start but died again. Tried to restart and it will crank but no start. No white smoke from exaust.I left the truck on the side of the road for about 1 hour got a new fuel filter put it in . There was fuel in the bowl. Cranked it and it started. I thought the problem was fixed but it only ran for a few minutes. Would not restart. Went back in the evening to try again and It started up again same result died after like 3 min. Please help me get my truck running again Thanks.

ok I went back today and pulled the fuel filter out and scraped the fpr screen with a q tip with lucas fuel system cleaner. Started back up drove 1/4 mile and it died , started again, died again , started again , died , started and stayed running. I think it had air in the lines causing it to cut out. Everything seems ok now since cleaning the fpr screen.

Glad you got it figured out. I would have suggested IPR orings with your description of warming up and dying, cools off then starts. That is a common failure point. Glad it was just the fpr screen...

ok so I pulled the IPR. The O rings looked good not ripped or brittle. I was able to move the piston up and it closed no problem.Re installed the IPR added oil to the HPOP. Fired right up but died 5-10 min later. Im waiting on a CPS should be here in a couple days I will update if that fixes my problem. I didnt mention before that my tach has no movement until it is running.
