What if turbo fins damaged?

So, hypothetically, what if your turbo fans are damaged ... look like they were sand blasted or bent?

I bought my first diesel 2 weeks ago and did not know to look for those signs. It's a 96 f250 7.3L 4x4 CC SB with 216K miles on it. It's in the shop now for a once over.

If they find the turbo has been sucking in tons of dirt, am I screwed?
