Gas in Fuel Tank

My uncle and I made a road trip today and at one fuel up he accidently put regular unleaded gas in one of my tanks. I didn't know it til I lost all powere and she died goin down the interstate. We finally got it drained from the line and got the back tank going but know I have a tank full of gas. We planned to syphon it out and then drop the tank and get the remaining gas out. Do I have any worries or do you guys have any tips? I was kind of hoping we could syphon almost all of it out and be safe to fill up with diesel and just dilute it enough. Maybe put some lucas additive in too?

My uncle had put 17.45 gallons in. We just syphonned out about 22 gallons. Then I put 15 gallons of diesel in and turned around and syphonned it all back out when I got home. I am thinking about doing this another time then calling that good on the diluting. I was going to fill it up and put a new filter in for that tank and then pitch it when I use up that tank and adding another new filter. I am going to add some lucas addittive or something similar. Any comments or tips are greatly appreciated. What all should I look for?

sounds like a waste of fuel and filters. i know people who have accidently done the same thing and they just topped it off with diesel and went on there way

Would have been fine to just suck out what gas you can and top it off with diesel, guys around here use gas to prevent gelled diesel, it will be fine

it will be fine, just get as much as you can get out of a hose, then filler up with diesel. I put a little gas in my tank when my obs starts running a little rough then the next tank just ad some additive to lube and balance out the fuel system. wouldnt do that to a newer diesel though.

yep, drain-syphon out what you can, then fill it with clean diesel....you can run it down about halfway, then fill it again if you want, it won't hurt..... I wouldn't Pull it hard on that tank til you used it up and refilled it, just use it for running around town or cruising the freeways.....you'll be fine ....
trucker for 40 years, used gasoline to prevent jelling of diesel in cold weather.....
