Fixed my 7.3 fuel starvation problem
I posted up on 2/23/11 ( fuel starvation ) with what I had and also what I had done to try and repair my problem.
I have recently found and fixed the problem which was restricted fuel filters inside of the mixing chamber. These two small round filters on the intake side fuel line @ the sending unit inside the fuel tank were plugged with very fine particles.
These filters can be cleaned and replaced but I wanted to not have to do this again so I ended up removing the entire mixing chamber and replacing it with a 4" metal fuel line and compression coupler. I attached this to the pick up bell and screen on the bottom of the sending unit. I also installed a water separator / fuel filter before the pump to handle easy replacement and proper filtration. Their are detailed instructions out there of this procedure so you may want to look them up. I also cut the fuel tank inlet and vent pipes inside the tank to aid in filling my tank to the top.
Side note be very careful when doing this as the sending unit is very delicate. I suggest taping it in place and holding the sending unit in a vise while working on it.
